Char Kway Teow Recipe


Char Kway Teow is a famous Malaysian and Singaporean stir-fried noodle dish made with flat rice noodles, prawns, Chinese sausage, eggs, and bean sprouts. It’s smoky, savory, and incredibly flavorful.

Ingredients


- 200g Flat Rice Noodles (Kway Teow)
- 100g Prawns (peeled and deveined)
- 1 Chinese Sausage (sliced thin)
- 1 Egg
- 1 cup Bean Sprouts
- 2 tbsp Chives or Spring Onions (cut into 2-inch pieces)
- 1 tbsp Minced Garlic
- 2 tbsp Oil

For the Sauce


- 1 tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 tbsp Dark Soy Sauce
- 1 tsp Fish Sauce (optional)
- 1 tsp Chili Paste or Sambal (optional)
- 1/2 tsp Sugar

How to Make Char Kway Teow


  1. In a small bowl, mix all sauce ingredients and set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a wok over high heat. Add garlic and sauté for a few seconds.
  3. Add prawns and Chinese sausage. Stir-fry until prawns turn pink.
  4. Push ingredients aside, crack the egg into the pan, scramble it, and mix it with everything.
  5. Add noodles and pour the sauce over. Stir-fry quickly to coat evenly.
  6. Add bean sprouts and chives. Toss for another 1–2 minutes and serve hot.
