Fish Curry Recipe


This classic Indian Fish Curry is flavorful, spicy, and comforting. Made with fresh fish, aromatic spices, and tangy tamarind, it's perfect when served with steamed rice or roti.

Ingredients


- 500g Fresh Fish (cleaned and cut)
- 2 tbsp Oil
- 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
- 1/2 tsp Fenugreek Seeds (optional)
- 1 Onion (finely chopped)
- 2 Tomatoes (chopped)
- 1 tbsp Ginger-Garlic Paste
- 2 tsp Red Chili Powder
- 1 tsp Coriander Powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
- Salt to taste
- A lemon-sized Tamarind soaked in water (or 1 tbsp paste)
- Curry Leaves
- Water as required
- Fresh Coriander Leaves for garnish

How to Make Fish Curry


  1. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds. Let them splutter.
  2. Add curry leaves, then add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté until raw smell goes away.
  4. Add tomatoes, turmeric, chili, coriander powder, and salt. Cook till oil separates.
  5. Add tamarind extract and some water. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. Add fish pieces gently and let them cook for 10–12 minutes without stirring too much.
  7. Once the fish is cooked and curry is thickened, garnish with coriander leaves.
  8. Serve hot with steamed rice.
