Gulab Jamun Recipe

Gulab Jamun is a beloved Indian dessert made from milk solids and soaked in fragrant sugar syrup. These soft, juicy balls are perfect for festive occasions and celebrations.

Ingredients

• 1 cup Milk Powder
• 1/4 cup All-purpose Flour (Maida)
• 2 tbsp Ghee
• 1/4 cup Milk (warm, as needed)
• 1/8 tsp Baking Soda
• Oil or Ghee for deep frying

For Sugar Syrup:
• 1.5 cups Sugar
• 1.5 cups Water
• 2-3 Cardamom Pods
• Few Saffron Strands (optional)
• 1 tsp Rose Water (optional)

Making Process

  1. In a bowl, mix milk powder, flour, baking soda, and ghee. Slowly add warm milk to form a soft dough. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, make the sugar syrup by boiling water, sugar, and cardamom until slightly sticky. Add saffron and rose water. Keep warm.
  3. Divide the dough into small balls with no cracks. Heat oil on medium-low and fry the balls until golden brown.
  4. Drain and immediately soak the fried balls in warm sugar syrup. Let them absorb the syrup for at least 1 hour before serving.
